There are certainly thoughts running in your head at this very
moment. Just close your eyes and try to listen to them. What
kind of thoughts do you find there – constructive ones, or
destructive ones? Is it easy for someone else to tell you
these thoughts that are running in your head – someone you
would meet on the street?
It is easy to answer the first question. But it is more
difficult to answer the second question, because people will
not be able to pinpoint and answer that you are feeling. They
will, nonetheless, have a fair idea of how you are feeling at
the moment.
Chew on this also – when you walk up to a group of friends,
all of whom know you, do they abruptly fall silent when they
see you, or do they become really happy thinking that you will
now add more spice to the gathering?
Again, the answer to this will indirectly depend on how you
yourself are feeling.
We should not underestimate thoughts. Thoughts are so powerful
that they are contagious. People can assess how we feel. They
will also influence our actions, and our appearance. It is
very difficult for us to suppress our thoughts within us. The
thoughts that we have in our mind also influence the way in
which other people around us act. Our thoughts can make our
behavior positive or negative.
Positive thoughts are those that bring about a particular
vivacity in us. They are responsible for bringing more energy
within you. Negative thoughts, on the other hand, will slowly
consume you. They will make you look depressed and they can
add a deathly coldness to even a very merry gathering.
Positive thoughts can pull people closer to you. Negative
thoughts take them far away. No one likes to spend time with a
negative thinker.
We hear the word attitude often, but we are still unsure of
what it really means. One of the most relevant definitions of
attitude is the way of looking at the world. A negative
viewpoint on life is very much responsible for creating a
negative attitude within you. The exact opposite happens when
you hold a positive viewpoint on things.
The moral of all this is surely that we have much to get from
keeping a positive attitude. For one, positive attitude can
make us healthier, and also friendlier. It makes us more
proficient at managing our stress and the problems that we
face in life.
If you want to keep a positive bearing in life, you must begin
with a constructive image of yourself. The key is to be
contented with what you are. Be confident about yourself.
Always assure yourself that things are going great. This kind
of exuberance is always catchy. People around you will be
invigorated too.
The exact opposite will happen if you retain a negative
attitude within you. The double repercussion is that you will
feel down in the dumps, and you will also make others morose
and gloomy because of the way you think.
Positive attitude comes with healthy ways of thinking. We
couldn't say this is very easy to do, because we do see
negative things all around us, especially in the media around
us. Not just that, most teachers and even parents are
responsible in harboring negative thoughts in children.
The happy positive thoughts are very important if you want to
maintain a positive outlook in life. It helps if you try to
listen to positive things in your vicinity. Like, playing with
noisy children, watching a good family flick, sharing jokes
with others, etc. When you do such cheerful things, you will
definitely find the cheer surging on within you.
It is not possible to shun yourself completely to negative
thoughts. They will happen when they have to. But even then,
try to attune the positives in your life so strongly that the
negative thoughts do not surface often.
The positive attitude that you build yourself is not just for
yourself, but it is also to make other people around you
happy. It helps if you are positive-minded. People will feel
comfortable about sitting and talking with you, and even look
upon you for guidance in their problems. In fact, just your
being with them will help them to cheer up.
It is really surprising why most people tend to harbor
negative attitudes in their lives even though it is pretty
much obvious that positive thoughts are so much beneficial. It
is not wrong to find emotionally sapped sometimes, but it is
not right to feel so for such a long time. There is always a
fixed amount of time for feeling sorry and feeling depressed,
and then life should move on.
Even when you feel that everything is going wrong for you, try
to focus on the better things in life. That will give you your
hope. Also, you will be able to see that these problems are
something you can take in your stride.
Developing a positive attitude in life does not cost anything.
But it helps to prolong your life. It gives you a healthier
attitude towards of life. That is why you must make all
efforts to make such an attitude yours for keeps.
