Ten Ways To
Push Your Life In The Right Direction
Those of us who are unfortunate enough to have a short
attention span are perpetually facing challenges in life, and
they are finding more things that surprise them than people
with good attention spans. But then, these lower attention
spans also push their lives in a wrong direction – it makes
lives frustrating. People with lower attention spans will also
harbor more negative feelings in their minds than others.
It is very important for us to begin understanding what
positive thinking is. Especially in people who have lower
attention spans, positive thinking helps by allowing the
person to think more about the better things in life. This
brings progress, rather than having the life get stuck in a
rut.
Here are some points in which people can try to inculcate
positive thinking in themselves and take their lives in the
correct direction:-
Be conscious of the needs of the self
The first thing you must think of, always, is your own body.
Pamper your body by fulfilling its needs. Eat well, play well,
rest well and give your body some exercise.
Always be thankful of things you have
If you are down in the dumps, take a little time out to think
what you have already got with you. It will make you feel
happier deep within. Take a minute out from your work schedule
to just remind yourself what you have with you. That will make
you more optimistic about your life.
Look for evidence in everything before you make your beliefs
Never believe in anything without proof. Like, if you see
someone morose in your company, do not jump to the conclusion
that you might have caused the grief. Be open and ask them
what's ailing them. If you suspect people are criticizing you,
but are not sure, do not hesitate to ask them pointblank what
they think about you. If you don't you will be wallowing in
your own pool of wrong thinking and will never be able to make
real progress in anything.
Do not make any extreme assumptions or actions
Do not criticize anyone extremely. Even if there is a habit in
someone you do not like, think about the things you like in
them. Refrain from using words like 'always' and 'never'.
Things like 'You always spoil my day' and 'You never take time
out for me' will only spoil relationships. Cherish the things
they have done for you.
Free yourself from negative ways of thinking
Always think why the negative thoughts are making their place
in your mind. If there is some wrong thinking making its
dwelling in your mind, then you must take time out to think
about it, and then try to disentangle that thought from your
mind. Never try to act upon a negative thought.
Never let negative thoughts enter your mind in the first place
There are times when we are not thinking something subversive,
but these negative thoughts automatically, and unjustifiably,
enter in our mind. Like, when you see a closed letter from a
bank, you might think it is for a missed payment without even
opening it. These thoughts are baseless, and they only make
lives more miserable. Try to snuff them out as soon as you
can.
Be compassionate with your family and friends
You must know the importance of expressing your compassion to
your near and dear ones. Handshakes, hugs, warm kisses, all
these are things that show that you care. They work with your
pets too; then you can imagine the feeling they must create in
humans around you. A simple gesture like a handshake with a
person you are making a deal with goes a long way in cementing
a constructive relationship.
Be more sociable
Human beings were not meant to live like islands, and it is
time you came out of your shell and mingled with people, if
you haven't done so lately. Make friends with positive minded
people and you will see the difference in your life.
Practice some charity
The most effective way to feel good about life is to practice
some voluntary work. Get associated with an organization that
does good work for others. You will see how much you get back
in kind.
Do not regurgitate your past and other negative feelings
Some of us have the very unfortunate habit of thinking too
much about negative thoughts. It is really unfortunate if we
think about these negative happenings all the time. Rather, we
must try to involve ourselves in things we like – practice a
hobby or simply go sit in the part. Even socializing with
people you like is a very good way of keeping the negative
thoughts at bay.
Stress is the number one urban killer in the world today. Once
its germ begins in the human mind, the human mind can then
never be used for any constructive purposes. This is suicide
if we are working, for the stress of our mind will not let us
achieve any of our tasks at hand. Thinking about things gone
wrong will not help matters any; it will only bring more
problems in its wake. It is at such times that we must stand
up and realize that our thoughts are going the wrong way – we
must turn off all stress, even work stress if it is there, and
veer our lives in the right direction.Source:
