Stress
Management Achievements in Just Seven Days!!!
There are just so many ways in which we can kill ourselves. I
think the most significant of all these ways is stress. When
we are frustrated, we make way to a host of other problems,
grief and anxiety being the most notable ones, and that is
what eventually converts us into mental wrecks. It causes us
to lose our own identities and our sanities. It is very
important to keep our minds in control in such periods. But
exactly how do we go about doing that?
The alarming fact is that the more industrious people among us
are already on the diving board to the pool of stress.
The feeling of being in stress is quite a familiar feeling to
all of us – each and every person on earth has experienced
stress in varying degrees. Sometimes we worry with our own
problems; sometimes with problems concerning others. But the
result is the same – we are not able to experience happiness.
Well, each one of us is different, and we do respond to
depressing situations in different manners. But the truth is,
we just cannot wish stress away. However, if we do not hold
the reins of stress in our hand, it will truly and surely bog
our lives down.
Stress management comes in various ways, and some of them can
really help remove stress entirely from our lives. Here's a
program for a week that you can try out. It is not too
difficult to use, and what's important, it will not be too
complicated on your already stressed-out mind.
See the positive points in stress
This might seem a bit unconventional, but it works. The first
thing to do is to realize that stress is not bad after all. It
is important to properly assist the autonomous nervous system
of your body. But that's medical jargon. In simple language,
stress actually brings about a boost of energy in your system
and you learn how to react well. If you are not stressed, you
simply won't perform to the hilt. Think about the
pre-examination jitters and you will know what I mean.
Stop spreading the contagion
You must have observed how people who are deeply in stress
indiscriminately try to spread their mental condition to
others. Avoid such weepers. Try to find out people who like to
wallow in stress and then steer clear from them. Another
approach – a more difficult one – would be to try and help
them overcome stress.
See how people around you are managing their stresses
Another very important thing to observe in the people around
you is to see who of them are handling the stressful
conditions in their lives beautifully. There will be certainly
such people; learn their modus operandi. Try to identify the
changes that happen in these people when they are stressed.
Does their language and behavior change? Observe and emulate.
Learn breathing exercises
Breathing exercise is considered to be invaluable in fighting
stress. Learn some exercises from your gym instructor, or
train your body to relax through heavy breathing techniques
from a manual or a website. The general method is to inhale
gradually counting up to seven and then breathe out even
slower counting up to eleven. This is known as the 7/11
method. It helps to mellow down your heart rate, stops the
perspiration and brings your body to rest.
Filter out all the thoughts that can create stress in the mind
Even if you are a pro at stress management, the stress causing
factors will not keep away from your life. When they come,
just bring one thought into mind – we are all living under
stress! Stress is bound to happen. You cannot stop it from
coming. But try not to think too much about the stress causing
factors.
Understand what brings stress in you more
Understand about the things that your body is prone to be
stressed about. Is it examinations? Or business presentations?
Or simply meeting some insufferable member of your family?
Make a list of such stress causing factors in your mind –
these are your stress triggers. When you know what is able to
bring stress in you, you will be better prepared to fortify
yourself against them. You might need to learn some tricks and
talents to overcome some stresses, like the business
presentations, for example. And cut down on the coffee,
please. Or, go decaf.
Do things with a singular approach in mind
When you take on too many things, stress is virtually
unavoidable. Commit yourself to only things that you can do,
and do them well. This will keep most of the stress at bay.
Complement this with good sleep, good diet and exercise. When
your body is good physically, it will also be healthy
mentally. Do not overwork.
No one likes stress, and nothing can be truer than that. But
with little effort, we can make stress negligent in our lives.
The idea is to find the inner peace. If nothing works, leave
on a holiday and don't come back for a few weeks!Source:
