Open Up the
Creative Channels of Your Mind
Creativity has been put on a much higher pedestal by humans
than it actually deserves. Most of us think that creativity
comes naturally to only a few people, but that is actually not
true in the least. In fact, creativity is something that can
be honed and improved upon, and you can then sit back and
enjoy the results. But if you do not try to harness the
creative vistas of your mind, then they will surely wither and
perish.
What are the ways to tap the creative potentials within
yourself, then? The most direct approach will be to be like an
absorbent sponge. Just like how a sponge keeps on soaking
every drop of liquid that is in its vicinity, you must try to
take in as much of knowledge and information that is floating
around you as possible. Learn from books, learn from people.
Learn about the infinite realms that you can achieve. You will
find that by learning, you are only improving your interest
for more learning.
Try doing something creative each day, even doodling for all
that matters! Just do something that you can call your own
creation with each passing day. You might think some of your
early efforts to be quite inane at the outset, but don't let
that deter you. In fact, you must see each of your finished
creations and pat yourself on the back saying that you have
done something new. Try this method, it works. Do something
very simple, like drawing, and chart your progress in a
journal. Or, try to write something. Write a few paragraphs
each day. Or, try photography. Do whatever you feel inclined
to do, and keep tracking your progress each day. After a
while, you will be pleasantly surprised to see the progress
you have made. There is nothing that can go wrong. In fact,
you might one day consider taking up one of these things
professionally and make a very good living out of it.
Do not set limits to your own thoughts. Try to think
creatively. Creative thinking means thinking away from the
norm, thinking differently from other people. Do not be
ashamed to do that. Instead of making restrictions on your
thought, see how you can improve on the resources you have.
But do have some limitations when it comes to implementation
of the things.
When you try something new each day, you are in fact improving
your own perspective on things. Going traveling someplace is
creative too. Visit a place you have not been too, speak with
someone you haven't spoken with. Forge relationships with
people. When you see that you are taking the initiative and
doing something new each day, your life is becoming fuller. Do
something for the first time each day, even if it is just
something as simple as putting in a light bulb. If you don't
do that, you are damming up some of your talent in some corner
of your life. Be adventurous sometimes. Go whitewater rafting
on a vacation. Bungee jump. Be scared. That is what will help
you be creative, and tell about your exploits to others.
Be a little mad sometimes. Yes, you heard it right. Be a
little mad, or at least what the other people around you would
call as mad. We need a bit of insanity in our lives, or we
will never be able to improve. We will never take any risks.
Remember that every great invention today was just a mad idea
once. If you don't think out of the box, you are confining
yourself. It is rightfully understood that creativity is about
breaking limitations and setting new ones. Sometimes, if the
bizarre seems inviting to you, try it out. But even in your
madness, keep a sane head on your shoulders. Do not overstep
limits and do things that would harm yourself or anyone in any
way. The point here is to build a constructive and creative
personality. Every great person was once a little mad.
Remember, the madder one is, the saner on can be. But do not
be so mad so as to shut yourself out from society.
So, the thought machine must have set itself in motion by now.
Heed to those thoughts that are running in your mind. You will
discover that your life suddenly gets more meaning to it.
