Energy Healing
Techniques 101
Many esoteric terms are making their presence felt in the
world today, especially in the field of healing. We are
hearing about prana, aura, tantra, chakra, etc. Spiritualism
is becoming much more profound in its meaning. But is it all
that good as it sounds? Here's a lowdown on things.
The Difference between Energy Healing Techniques
The most commonly used term in most healing techniques that
you will hear is chakra. This term is much more commonly used
in Pranic healing. Chakra is the name given to the energy
center of the prana, which means the body. Apart from this,
there is aura, the non physical part of the body. Auras cover
the body in seven layers, which govern different aspects such
as the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual states of the
body. Auras have colors that can be visualized. Looking at the
color of the aura can give an idea on the wellbeing of the
person. The following is a color code that is used:-
Green aura – a person with strong ambition
Blue aura – a person who believes in making peace
White aura – a person who adapts quickly to changes in
environment
Red aura – a person with active tendencies
Orange aura – a person with good coordinating skills
Violet aura – a person with psychic leanings
Tantra
The other form of energy healing, Tantra¸ is more concerned
with the relationship between sex and spiritual being. Tantra
is all about connections among people and connections with the
divine entity. This is a very common concept in all tantric
writings. One of the concepts of Tantra is that spiritual
unity can be achieved when a man and woman conjugate in
orgasm, and this is the time when the mind becomes free of
negative thoughts. If the negative thoughts were left to stay
in the mind, they could cause ailments.
The word Tantra comes from the word tan, which has two
meanings. Tan means the physical body, and it also means 'to
stretch'.
Reiki
Reiki is a totally different art. It is not a Hindu science
like Pranic and Tantric healing methods, and it is also not
quite as old. Reiki is from Japan. It was developed only a
century ago. The basic premise of Reiki is that there is a
universal flow of energy in the world, and this energy comes
from some higher degree of intelligence. When you learn Reiki,
you are learning to tap these reserves of energy within you.
All these three are methods of energy healing, but they differ
in the types of energy they release – Pranic healing is more
about unleashing life energy, Tantric healing is about sexual
energy and Reiki is about the universal energy.
But all of them connect the body, mind and the spirit in a
single irresolute force. There is also connection between the
human self and the nature around it. The effects of this
energy in physical, emotional and spiritual health are also
deeply studied.
The Popularity of Energy Healing Techniques
All these three methods are considered to be alternative
methods of healing, but even then their popularity is only
rising with each passing day. Despite the various medicinal
approaches available in the world today, these therapies are
only becoming more popular with each day. Let us analyze some
of the reasons why these healing methods have become so very
popular.
Energy healing has worked in places where conventional
medicine has not.
There have been numerous instances in which modern healing
methods have failed to show the required results and energy
healing methods have succeeded there. There is no rhyme or
reason for this, and there is not even any statistical data to
support it, but it has happened many times. Methods like
Ayurveda, faith healers and even shaman doctors that were once
shunned upon are now being taken seriously.
Energy healing methods are more complete in their treatment.
In most medicinal therapies, the healing is focused on the
cause of the disease and its symptoms. Meaning to say, the
person (who is called as the patient, quite a denigrating
term, some would feel) is treated as just a host who has got
an affliction. This is not so in energy healing. Here, the
person is considered as important and the disease is just some
negative energy that has made a temporary house in the body of
the person. The treatment is not just about treating the body,
but it is about improving the entire spiritual wellbeing of
the person.
Energy healing is safer and non-invasive.
In energy healing, there is no need to pump harmful chemicals
in the body, and there are no invasive methods such as those
used in surgery. In energy healing, that trauma is absent.
That is the reason holistic medicinal approaches are used to a
greater extent in today's world.
Energy healing helps for stress relief.
Most energy healing methods have meditation as their principle
core. Since stress has become a very common ailment in today's
times, many people are turning towards energy healing methods
so that the meditation can help them combat their stresses.
Since energy healing is done with the minimum of equipment,
they are very good options for relieving stress, even at home.
Though there is a debate between which of the methods –
conventional medicine or energy healing – is better, it is
understandable that energy healing is here to stay. The
benefits and results are too good to be ignored.
