Becoming a True
Relationship Guru
Relationships are always fragile things, and you do need to
expend a lot of time and effort in order to steer them in the
right direction. And it is important to make relationships
comfortable, because that can provide you the security in life
that you will always find useful.
There are many reasons why it is necessary to foster strong
relationships. If we take the example of workplace
environment, then we can very well see how the relationships
between the workers help to take the company's success in the
right way. And the success is also dependent on how many
workers are striving to bring it about.
If the group is disorganized, it could be a very deterring
factor. Like, there could be irrational demands on some
members due to which they will have to sacrifice things to
meet with the timelines. While, other members couldn't care
less. If this happens, then you can be sure that the
relationships between the team members will sour and things
will fall apart.
The adverse effects of such bad working relationships will not
just mar the productivity of the organization; it will also
make all the affiliates and sponsors of such businesses
suffer.
We are social animals, and there can be no society without
relationships. Each member within these societal relationships
has to work and contribute for the furtherance of the society.
Goals have to be set and achieved. Only in such a scenario
will the society work better. Though each member is working
differently, the basic goal is the same. Only good
relationships can make this happen.
One of the important ways to keep relationships good is to
understand how the other people feel. Try to analyze or ask
what the other person wants and pay heed to their needs. When
that happens, they will feel as though they are important, and
it will be a good step at cementing a good relationship.
Expression is also important. It is not worthwhile to keep
your thoughts and expressions hidden within yourself, but you
must give vent to them. If you are sure the other party cares
for you, and will help you to solve your problems, you must
surely make the effort to open out your heart to them.
No relationship – personal or professional – can survive
without mutual respect. This is an important thing if you want
to build good relationships. Listen to what the others have to
say, and respect their feelings. Confirm and assert that their
actions are justified, or else tell them of the right course
to take.
Never form bad initial impressions of people, because most of
us are nervous when we meet each other for the first time. Do
not be judgmental on people based on first impressions or
rumors.
When you respect others, you are also bringing respect unto
yourself. This only helps to solidify the relationship to a
greater extent.
If there is a dispute among two parties and you are somehow
expected to involve yourself, do not begin contradicting
either one of them. Try to bring about a mutual talk and
listen to what they have to say. Everyone must listen to the
other, and you must intermediate only if you are sure of what
you are doing is right. The best solution will not be to
offend anyone, but to create a solution that is a winner for
both.
You will find that this can be done in a much easier way if
those people understand that the relationship is important to
them. The one that understands this will not hesitate to make
some compromises for the other. Even an effort to do so is
acknowledged with appreciation.
Do not be biased or prejudiced when such decision making is
involved. Hear both versions and then plan out things.
It is best always to have informal chats to improve
relationships. This exposes certain problems and also puts
people in a relaxed setting to smooth out the creases.
You must try to develop an environment where people do not
feel much about expressing themselves. When they do that, it
is an obvious starting step to fostering a strong
relationship.
If there are any things that cannot be repaired in
relationships, then they should be just let be. One of such
unchangeable factors is human nature. Human nature cannot be
changed, for whatever reason, unless the person makes an
effort themselves. Other such problems that can be avoided are
prejudice for others, blaming people for souring
relationships, neglecting feelings of the other person, having
no missions or passions in mind, and not understanding why you
are in the relationship in the first place.
No one can do without good relationships. They are one of the
best ways to address our problems and to give us security.
That is the reason why all of us must endeavor to improve all
relationships in our lives, to our best capacities.Source:
